When you undergo heart surgery and your life is literally on the line, you learn to be grateful for the beauty of everyday life. I’ve been through that experience myself and I have a true appreciation for the healthcare system in our city. My mandate includes recognizing the good work we do at the Saint John Regional Hospital, and to work towards ensuring that healthcare in our province is accessible to all.
We have wonderful schools in our city, but there is still work to be done. Teachers are faced with many different needs in the classroom and I want to ensure they’re being properly supported. We’re also becoming a more and more diverse province, and our students should be learning about the languages and histories of our BIPOC communities within the curriculum. There are other areas of opportunity within education that I would like to focus on, including our university students, home schooling families, and outdoor learning.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve invested more than 3 million dollars into Saint John’s economy over the past ten years. I understand what it’s like to operate a company. I know what it’s like to not take home a paycheque—I have experienced many ups and downs in life and I have always come out better on the other side. I want to use innovative ideas to inject more opportunities into our city, for instance, by putting some focus on the economic impact of UNB. I also want to hear the concerns of our business community and to work towards finding solutions to problems entrepreneurs in our area are facing.
What Drives Tim?
THERE’S A WHOLE LOT RIDING ON OUR RIDING
Now more than ever, during these times of fear and uncertainty, Portland-Simonds needs a strong presence in the legislature. Our riding deserves attention. We’re home to UNB, the Saint John Regional Hospital, and major industry. We have a portion of our population living in extreme wealth and another living in extreme poverty. We need a representative who will listen to the voices of all citizens, share their concerns, and work to get things done.
Don’t you think it’s time for change?
“I am committed to sitting down and listening.”
